Cascade Reading (CR) External Research Agreement

Introduction

Thank you for your interest in conducting research concerning Cascade Reading’s format and/or products. We value evidence-based research and strive to stay up to date with the newest technology, pedagogy, and theory in the field of learning sciences. Not only do we have a rigorous and ambitious research agenda of our own, we also expect high quality work to be conducted by external research partners. As such, we expect that external research partners will abide by the guidelines set forth in this research agreement.

 

Permissions 

  1. CR retains rights, title, interest and complete ownership of, and all intellectual and proprietary rights with respect to CR Tools, and any training materials provided or made available to Researcher by CR. 
  2. Researcher is granted access to use the CR Tools for non-commercial, research purposes only. 
  3. Researcher retains ownership of the research conducted using CR Tools.
  4. CR can and will make modifications to our products based on the results of any research conducted and will retain full ownership of any modifications and intellectual property related to these modifications.
  5. CR has permission to use and reference the Researcher and all published research at any point. 
  6. CR has the right to publicly host data and publications in accordance with copyright laws on CR website or any other platform.
  7. Researcher will receive all due credit, reference, and citation, but will not be compensated for product use, research or for new development that is made to CR Tools by CR as a result of the research.

 

Length of Access 

All privileged access to CR Tools will expire at the termination date as written in this Agreement. All use of the CR Tools necessary to publish research must be completed by the Termination of this Agreement. 

 

Research Ethics

Researchers are asked to comply with applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines in the United States and other countries, including, but not limited to, United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations (21 CFR 50 and 56), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services regulations (45 CFR Part 46), ICH Good Clinical Practice (ICH GCP), the Belmont Report, World Medical Association Declaration of Helsinki, and Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences (CIOMS).  Institutional review is required from an institutional review board accredited by the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP).

 

Cascade Reading’s Commitment to Open Science

We at Cascade Reading are adamant about maintaining open science principles that allow for maximal inclusion and trust within the scientific community and between the scientific community and the general public. Upon completion of research projects, Cascade Reading requests the following:

  1. A summary of research findings, to include a description of experimental and statistical methods, results, and interpretations. 
  2. Authors upload all data, stimuli, and analyses to an open science framework (such as OSF) to adhere to open science practices.
  3. Access to any public conference recordings and proceedings. 
  4. Interim research updates for internal documentation and use, as agreed upon by Researcher and Cascade Reading.
  5. Advance notification of intent to submit to conference presentations, academic journals, or any public dissemination of results.
