Among our different demonstration views, like the Chrome Web View and Reader View, the Explorer View stands out in its ability to interact with grammatical elements in sentences to scaffold understanding of syntax in text. In addition to the ability to highlight parts of speech and syntactic categories, we now offer two additional features in our settings: Colorized Clauses and Expand/Collapse.
The Colorized Clauses feature allows users to separate different clauses in complex sentences to understand how those sentences are formed and how information from each clause interacts to form a coherent representation in our minds. The colorized scheme also cues users to which elements of a sentence are crucial for that sentence’s structure via shading.
Similarly, the Expand/Collapse feature allows users to simplify the sentence to its bare bones and understand its core elements. This can be particularly useful for showing students how to form more complex sentences as they learn to write!
Check out this video tutorial below for more information on how to use these new features, and stay tuned for future developments. Our API grants access to linguistic knowledge that’s ready to be integrated into numerous platforms and tools. These particular views and features demonstrate only some of our capability and are meant to showcase our API’s flexibility and potential.
