Our Chief Scientist Julie Van Dyke recently interviewed Dr. Evelina Fedorenko, Associate Professor of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at MIT, about the Neurobiology of Reading and Language Comprehension. A summary of the interview and the figures discussed will appear in the soon-to-be-released Vol 51, Issue 1 of Perspectives on Language and Literacy, published by the International Dyslexia Association. This will be a 2-part theme issue titled “Syntax Comes First: Understanding How Syntax Is The Backbone of Comprehension” and will include research-focused articles discussing the psycholinguistics of syntax and language comprehension, and practice-focused articles with concrete suggestions for assessment and instruction that can immediately inform classroom practice. Check it out!
